With the last days of February "Meine-Deine-Unser HEIMAT" ended, a series of workshops and events that connected newly arrived and old-setteld residents of Oberhausen and the surrounding area in a dialogue on a very political and yet very personal topic:
The individual, collective and above all diverse ideas of HEIMAT.
Starting with "cooking workshops", folowed by the design of an illustrated book, the production of a mini-documentary, to the development of urban planning strategies. All those projects and the belonging conversations and experiences formed the topic and brought Oberhausen residents with and without the expereinces of escape into an eye-to-eye dialogue.
The main venue was the "Unterhaus", the shop on the ground floor of the high-rise building in Freidrich-Karl-Strasse 4, which was taking shape at the same time as the workshop series progressed. Whether cooking together, discussing or designing, the premises always provided enough space for the workshops and opened the participants of the workshops a new point of contact in the neighborhood.
The results of "Meine-Deine-Unsere-HEIMAT" will appear in a new project tank in the near future.
For now we would like to thank all those involved in the project and the two sponsors Interkultur Ruhr and LAG NW, who have made the whole project possible.
