OPEN ACADEMY KITEV
!!!Coming soon!!!
Margo Zailīte) und das diskursive Projekt The Soil of Ecological Union (kurat. Yuri Yefanov & Natalia Matsenko).

OPEN ACADEMY kitev
A Part of Urban Art Mycelium (TUAM2)
OPEN ACADEMY kitev explores the potential of art to imagine alternative futures in times of unresolved crisis. From October 1–5, 2025, artistic research results will be presented at kitev, Unterhaus Gallery in Oberhausen.

The program features two process-based and participatory artistic approaches: the workshop series Sonic Spores (curated by Margo Zailīte) and the discursive project The Soil of Ecological Union (curated by Yuri Yefanov & Natalia Matsenko). The exhibition includes visual, sonic, and spatial elements, accompanied by public workshops. The results of the symposium The Soil of Ecological Union are also presented within the exhibition. The symposium went through the topics of soil and utopian ideas around it, ecology and technology, non-human life and community awareness, urban nature, gardens and forests, art and activism. Sonic Spores includes three workshops: building a bamboo-based spatial installation, experimenting with electric sounds, and co-creating AI-assisted music from inspirational songs of Refugees Kitchen Community.

Paul Granjon is an artist and educator whose early work with self-made robots explored the co-evolution of humans and machines with a humorous and critical perspective. The work questioned the validity of a creeping digitization that tends to replace living beings with digital programs and creatures, supporting a society based on economic profit, surveillance and extraction. His interest in vital issues of resilience and ecological implication grew over the years, based on the conviction that a renewed relationship with plant, animal and mineral beings and environments, combined with a radically re-imagined use of technology are crucial pre-requisites for a good life on earthSeveral recent works explore the potential of electrogenic soil bacteria - microbes that generate tiny amounts of electricity - for artworks, citizen science and public engagement. Paul is a member of the Centre for Art and Ecology, Goldsmiths University London. More info at www.zprod.org

Refugees’ Kitchen is the oldest kitev project and has been active. It is a mobile kitchen, co-planned, co-built, and co-operated by artists and refugees. Traveling from city to city, it not only shares culinary traditions but also offers a cultural program including concerts, talks, and discussions. At various urban sites, the members cook traditional dishes from their regions. Alongside the meals, they also share political insights: the causes of displacement such as war, authoritarian regimes, and military interventions. In this way, Refugees’ Kitchen combines food with political awareness – “fast food with fast facts” – making the topic of flight tangible through both personal stories and political contexts. since 2021, with weekly activities in a collaboratively developed space LEERSTAND in Oberhausen Central Station. http://refugeeskitchen.de

Since 2016, Jana Kerima Stolzer and Lex Rütten have been collaborating on stage-like installations and performances that explore feedback systems between nature and technology both on and with the earth. The duo relates the interaction between the environment and living beings not only to human beings, but equally to flora and fauna. Thus, the protagonists within the multimedia works are mostly those beings that have no voice in reality: hybrid beings of nature and technology, plants and animals that convey their own perspective on the world through musical environments. The duo collects stories from around the world based on fact-rich research in order to develop narratives that allow for new connections. The duo lives and works at the Künstler*innenhaus Dortmund.
