Post vom Fahrzeugbauer – und plötzlich ist unser Auto keine Zeichnung mehr, sondern etwas, das man anfassen kann und das in einer Werkhalle steht.
Gebaut wird bei Geraldy Fahrzeugbau im saarländischen Schmelz, einem Familienbetrieb, der seit Jahrzehnten Verkaufsfahrzeuge herstellt. Gerade entstehen dort der Anbau und die gesamte Elektrik.
Danach übernehmen wir.
Der Innenausbau entsteht mit den Studierenden der HSD und dem city lab. Alles, was man später anfasst – Regale, Holzdetails, Abstellflächen – entwerfen und schrauben wir selbst. Wir sind gespannt, was uns dabei einfällt, worauf man beim Planen am Papier nie kommt.
Und dann der Moment, auf den wir hinarbeiten: der erste Kochworkshop mit dem fertigen Auto, im Rahmen des Manifesta 16+ Programms.
Post from the vehicle builder — and suddenly our car isn't a drawing anymore, but something you can touch, standing in a workshop hall.
It's being built at Geraldy Fahrzeugbau in Schmelz in the Saarland, a family business that has been making sales vehicles for decades. Right now the body and the whole electrical system are taking shape there.
Then it's our turn.
The interior will be built together with students from the HSD and the city lab. Everything you touch later on — shelves, wooden details, surfaces to put things down — we'll design and screw together ourselves. We're curious what will occur to us along the way, the kind of things you never think of when you're planning on paper.
And then the moment we're all working towards: the first cooking workshop with the finished car, as part of the Manifesta 16+ programme.
